Teach. Coach. Mentor.

We all enjoy accomplishing and succeeding. Our individuals being served are no different. They get big smiles when they learn a new skill. Ongoing mastery is vital to reach full potential and build self-esteem. Through the years, we’ve supported individuals to develop their own plan for ensuring this happens routinely in their own homes, their work and their community.

For short, we call it TCM (Teach, Coach, Mentor). It begins with a positive can-do attitude from staff, helping the individual build on the skills he or she already does well.

We assist individuals being served with making decisions about what they’ll master next and we encourage every effort—one small step at a time. Before you know it, they’ve reached a new milestone.

TEACH ME

to learn, be proud of my accomplishments, and make good decisions.

COACH ME

to sharpen what I do well, be motivated to try harder, and be all that I can be.

MENTOR ME

to try new things, feel important, and control more of my life.

What is an advocate?

  • Advocates assist people with making sure their rights are respected.

  • Advocates operate independently of government agencies, the Health and Disability Commissioner, and the funders of health and disability services.

  • Advocates support you, encourage you to take action and help you resolve your concerns or issues.

TEACH ME

to learn, be proud of my accomplishments, and make good decisions.

COACH ME

to sharpen what I do well, be motivated to try harder, and be all that I can be.

MENTOR ME

to try new things, feel important, and control more of my life.

TCM has 4 principles everyone must follow.

1. Everyone can be successful.

2. Everyone can learn and teaching requires positive repetition.

3. Learning must be related and connected to acquiring a new skill in the future.

4. Every person has a future expectation.

With TCM, we see individuals move forward faster than ever expected. Sometimes guardians are downright flabbergasted. And that, of course, makes everybody smile.
